Carlisle Castle - A secure bench

This bench, nestled under the mighty towering wall of Carlisle Castle, just on the edge of some park, and right next to the A595 road, has possibly the worst view for a bench placed near a castle ever, you can't see the caste!

Now, Carlisle Castle, (for those of you who want to know how old Carlisle castle is) is over 900 years old, built from stone, and according to the very enthusiastic guy at the entrance "The most besieged castle in the British Isles".

We wound our way up through the castle claiming ever higher to the battlements, even the fear of the castle being besieged again gave way as we looked out over Carlisle rooftops towards the city centre and beyond! They even had a keg of gunpowder in one of the old store rooms, I thought from a health and safety point of view this would probably not be allowed, but then what do I know...

View: well not much of a view, it kinda looks over a park, but not really... more of a view of a car park...

Position: errrr as mentioned, not brilliant...

Comfort: One side of the bench had a bent piece of metal which dug into your back, fine if there was just one person on the bench, not so good with two or three...

Overall BenchMark: 2/5 ideal for 1 person who really needed a sit down...

Carlisle Castle Not exactly a full day out but a good couple of hours or so spent in a historic castle, followed by a cup of tea and some cake
